Finding Stories - The Princesss and The Crow (Vietnam)

About ten years ago I found 'The Princess and the Crow' (variation on Beauty and the Beast) online in a version by Loan Nguyen but have been frustrated in finding a verion either in print, or on a current website. If anyone knows of another source i'd be delighted to hear from you.

Thanks for the reply, Tina - I have spent some time searching collections but to no avail, I was just hoping that it might trigger a memory for someone...

Andrew lang's yellow book has a polish story "The crow" which is a version of Beauty and the Beast . Its at

It may be a story thats traveled and been told so often that its "become" a vietnamese story.

I have a collection of Balinese story books ( my sister used live in Indonesia) which the authour swears are traditional balinese- but some of them are they are clearly Aesops fables.

Thanks Janet,

I have seen this version, but it's not the one that I found years ago unfortunately. The propensity for these stories to travel means that I tend to treat every version as a cultural manifestation of universal themes rather than a definitive original - I'm sure that even Aesop did not pluck his tales out of the air.
